A British themed cafe on Main Street Hardy
We offer a great new selection of Anglo-American cuisine to all local residents and visitors to Hardy, AR, including our signature dishes of cod and chips and some homemade Cornish Pasties. We serve breakfast all day and also a special Sunday lunch. We have a small shop on the premises, with some unique gifts and souvenirs inkeeping with the British theme.
The name of the cafe originates from long ago in 'Merrie Olde' England, where the Pig 'n Whistle was a tavern sign, derived from "Piggen Wassail", meaning "Good Health. A pig and whistle was used on a sign, as many people could not read at that time. The pig represented meat or food in general, and also a drinking cup. Whistle is referred to in early Anglo-Saxon as the mouth or throat. Hence the expression "wet your whistle".
Today the name of this cafe is not only down to this old English reference, but was chosen with the 'pig' representing the Arkansas Razorback and the 'whistle' representing the trains that can be heard from the nearby railroad.
We are now able to provide a nice selection of beer and wine to our members to consume with their food here at Pig 'n Whistle
[02/15/17] Dear Pig 'n Whistlers ... We are proud to have been part of the Hardy community over the last five years. However, there are many reasons why we unfortunately regret to inform you that we will not be reopening the restaurant in March 2017. Thank you all for your support, kindness, custom, and friendship - we truly appreciate you. Sincerely, Philip and Rebecca

[12/20/16] A lot of you are asking when we will be closing for 2016... Well, it's all about the fish - and the chips... Best guess is that you have about one more week to satisfy your taste buds. We will definitely be open the day after Christmas and quite possibly the following Tuesday and Wednesday - days we would normally be closed. Stay tuned to this station for the latest updates!
